Have you tried traditional “talk therapy” and been dissatisfied with your progress?
I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. Even if you have tried psychotherapy in the past, you may need a very different approach to healing than you experienced before. Or maybe this is your first experience reaching out for help. Either way, I will walk you through the current evidence-based approaches to not only make changes in your life, but to provide you with deep healing so that these issues do not come up again.
So many models of psychotherapy leave out critical parts of you. Models that only focus on “top down” processing (thinking) and leave out “bottom up” processing (sensing and feeling). The mind and body connection are critical to long term healing.
One of the models to start on this path of healing is an experiential and evidence-based therapy model called Internal Family Systems. (Level 2 trained) It is a unique, transformative model that will change your life through deep healing and self-leadership. I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) which is a powerful model to use in addition to IFS.
I will provide you with concrete tools to manage the symptoms that are bringing you to therapy. I think that the main reason we develop mental health issues is because they are unhealthy learned behaviors that we have picked up along the way, usually as protective mechanisms. I know that you can unlearn the faulty behaviors and replace them with healthy ones.
I have witnessed powerful healing and growth in my presence. I have also experienced my own healing and continue to do so in my own process. I know it is possible. Being a therapist is truly a gift and I feel privileged to witness the courage of anyone who steps into my office. I believe that therapy should be a safe space, free from criticism or judgment. All parts are welcome!
I enjoy working with children and adolescents using the creative model of Internal Family Systems. I also work closely with the Gems (Gender Multispecialty Service) Program through Boston Children’s Hospital. I consult with families and other clinicians regarding gender specific issues.
